The photos on this Home Page are of the Australasian Darter.  The darter is a common bird  along the Canning River  They are stunningly beautiful birds and makes great photographic subjects.  Click on the Menu items to see photos of other birds in the region.

It is my pleasure to display the wonderful birds of the Canning River and City of Canning  in Perth.  It  is my hope the photographs will be of interest to bird-watchers and used as an additional resource to help identify the local birds. ​  The official names of birds continue to change. I have updated the bird names on this website in Aug 2020 to reflect the current conventions of BirdLife Australia.  Bill Lambe
