Birds of the Canning River, Perth, Western Australia
It is my pleasure to display the wonderful birds of the Cannng River and City of Canning.  It  is my hope the photographs will be of interest to bird-watchers and used as an additional resource to help identify the local birds.

I have had a keen interest in birds ever since I was a boy growing up in Perth and  badgered my parents to buy me books on birds for birthdays and Christmas.  I was also passionate about racing pigeons - and (to my eternal shame) was a keen collector of bird's eggs from the local area.  These days I think of myself as a conservationist and I am a member of Birdlife Australia and a local environment group - CRREPA.

In this project, I undertook to photograph as many of the local birds within the City of Canning, as I could.  It
has been the perfect way to combine 3 interests of mine: walking, photography and nature.

Despite my long standing interest in birds, I am very much an amateur with much to learn.  If you see any mistakes on the web-site please let me know.
